Easy as pie? Is pie really easy? It's easy to eat, but not always easy to make. Excellence is easy to appreciate and enjoy, but getting there takes a while. Join me in my Pursuit In Excellence. It won't be quick , but it will be worth it!
For me excellence revolves around motherhood and grandmahood. It is central to my many interests which I use to help my children develop their talents and have fun.
I share my journey here, The Homemaking Cottage and Arizona Mama. Be sure to see what else is cooking!

One of my kiddos started asking if we could have a Halloween party back in August. We finally picked a date and made these super cute bat invitations to set the theme.
Have I mentioned recently how much I love having a Silhouette? It is so much easier finding a cute shape and letting the machine do all the hard work cutting around those little ears! The only hard part was figuring out the angle to fold the wings and my math genius wanted to no part of it.
After all our hard cutting – I mean the sliding the cardstock into the Silhouette and pushing the bats out, we typed up the party information. Our available space on the bats was rather small, so it kind of felt like a Twitter length message. We placed the message into our pre-folded bats. It helps to fold the paper before gluing into place.
The final step was so exciting; we actually used a white crayon! The only other use I’ve found for them is as a resist on Easter eggs. Anyway, write “You’re Invited” on the front of your folded bats. Your adorable bats are now ready to deliver to your guests who are anxiously awaiting an invitation to your awesome Halloween bash.
Now we just have to finish pulling together the food, activities and party favors. The party favors are super cute too. I’ll have to share them when they are finished.
Do you throw or go to a Halloween party?
One of my kiddos wanted homemade Valentines – something unique. I think we succeeded with these adorable mustache valentines. We used a moustache set from Silhouette, taped them on pipe cleaners and slipped them into the cute cards.
Of coarse we had plenty of fun posing with the mustaches alone the way! I think they will be a big success at school tomorrow.
Do you buy or make Valentines?
