Halloween Bat Invitations

One of my kiddos started asking if we could have a Halloween party back in August. We finally picked a date and made these super cute bat invitations to set the theme.

Have I mentioned recently how much I love having a Silhouette? It is so much easier finding a cute shape and letting the machine do all the hard work cutting around those little ears! The only hard part was figuring out the angle to fold the wings and my math genius wanted to no part of it.Bat invitation

After all our hard cutting – I mean the sliding the cardstock into the Silhouette and pushing the bats out, we typed up the party information. Our available space on the bats was rather small, so it kind of felt like a Twitter length message. We placed the message into our pre-folded bats. It helps to fold the paper before gluing into place. Bat invitation

The final step was so exciting; we actually used a white crayon! The only other use I’ve found for them is as a resist on Easter eggs. Anyway, write “You’re Invited” on the front of your folded bats. Your adorable bats are now ready to deliver to your guests who are anxiously awaiting an invitation to your awesome Halloween bash.

Now we just have to finish pulling together the food, activities and party favors. The party favors are super cute too. I’ll have to share them when they are finished.

Do you throw or go to a Halloween party?

Cupcake Challenge Party Entries

I’ve been totally slacking on sharing our Cupcake Challenge contestants creations! (I blame too much life.) As I mentioned last month when I shared the invitations, this was our second cupcake challenge party. This time we had four teams working their cake decorating magic.

Our first group had a very whimsical entry. It’s amazing how much candy a couple of girls can manage to pile on!

The next group used their cupcakes to construct a cute dear eating a bush. I love the Runts antlers!

The third group was shooting for a surf, turf and air motif with a ginormous octopus on the ocean, an equally huge cloud in the sky and of coarse the earth cupcake.

Our winner did an excellent job of stacking their cupcakes into a tall tree, making leaves from slices of large marshmallows dipped in colored sugar. Congratulations!

So there you have this challenge’s works of art. Which one would you have voted for?
