This kid friendly chili recipe has won two awards. Just last week, I walked off with a cute Thanksgiving apron as a prize in the church chili cook-off.
Ingredients
  • 2 cans of kidney beans
  • 2 cans of tomato sauce
  • 1 pound browned ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon dried minced onions
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 3 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
Instructions
  1. Place ingredients in a crock pot and stir together. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours, or on high for 5 to 6 hours.
  2. Serve with cornbread.

Friday Favorites: November 9

Can you believe there are less than two weeks until Thanksgiving? I’m still trying to mentally prepare for Halloween! I guess I better buy a turkey before I blink and it’s December. Let’ see if I can get my brain around this week’s favorites.Nano favorites

  • I spent last weekend at Time Out for Women. What an amazing recharge! I think the laughing and crying (the good kind) were pretty well balanced.
  • The election is over! No more campaign ads!
  • Another great ANWA meeting.
  • I’ve been Nanoishing along, which means I’m writing regularly but not 2000 words a day. I don’t need to win, I’m just hoping to hit 10%.
  • I had a job interview that I thought went very well. I’ll know if the prospective employer agrees in the next couple of weeks.
  • A great Relief Society dinner. The food was good and the company was even better!

Time’s short these days, but I found a few favorites on some of my favorite blogs.

  • If Thanksgiving is close, that means Christmas is just a couple of days behind (at least it feels that way). Family Chic has a cute and easy Sweater Tree project that has me wondering if I have any sweaters I’m ready to recycle.
  • Now that the decorations are covered, I {Heart} Naptime has a cute jar gift idea.
  • To keep the ideas from being too Christmas heavy, Chef in Training has 30 soup, chili and chowder recipes.

Friday Favorites: November 4

Welcome to November!  I love November in Arizona; our weather cooled down and it feels like Fall, at least Arizona’s version of Fall.  I even wore long pants yesterday!  Here are some of my favorites from this week.

  • My favorite chili won 1st place at the chili cook-off.  They gave me a certificate and a cute Thanksgiving apron as a prize!
  • I figured out a couple things I’ve been struggling with or WordPress, thanks to WordPressTV.
  • Writing on the Wall is hosting a Write-a-thon tonight in honor of NaNoWriMo!

Enough about me, check out these pockets of coolness in the blogworld.

  • Make a bow to decorate a gift and recycle grocery bags at the same time!  I {heart} Naptime shows you how.
  • Chocolate on my Cranium shares a great story of friendship!
  • I’m feeling a little pudgy (but isn’t it nice my kiddos share their Halloween candy), so I wasn’t going to include any food links this week.  Chef Tess broke my resolve with her Raspberry Chocolate Sour Cream Pie.
