Easy as pie? Is pie really easy? It's easy to eat, but not always easy to make. Excellence is easy to appreciate and enjoy, but getting there takes a while. Join me in my Pursuit In Excellence. It won't be quick , but it will be worth it!
For me excellence revolves around motherhood and grandmahood. It is central to my many interests which I use to help my children develop their talents and have fun.
I share my journey here, The Homemaking Cottage and Arizona Mama. Be sure to see what else is cooking!

Welcome to my newish site. I’m excited to be switching to WordPress with my own domain. Thank you for your patience as I finish pulling in the elements I loved from my old site and adjusting the new site.
I’m excited to get back into the swing of things with last week’s Family Home Evening lesson. Once again, we had a multipurpose lesson. Our subject material was taken from the Webelos handbook. First we discussed ways our family can show respect to our community. (Younger children will probably need to start off with a definition of citizenship.) We chose five rule our family follows to be good citizens – respecting the flag, respecting military and emergency personnel, obeying laws, putting trash in garbage cans, and being neighborly. Next we talked about respecting the flag.
Not only is this a beneficial lesson for all families, it helped my son finish the requirements for his Citizenship belt loop, and it helped our family earn the Connecting with Your Community Patch from the Fun for the Family book.
The activity also helped my son earn his Citizenship belt loop, but we all had a blast making a college of ways we can be good citizens. I don’t know what it is about cutting up magazines and gluing them into a new picture that is so fun. Maybe it’s the creativity that comes from assigning our own interpretation to the pictures and fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle. It is more time consuming than other activities, so we tried to get an earlier start.
We topped off the night with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream! I love it when Family Home Evening adds so much to our Sabbath day observance.
