Welcome
Easy as pie? Is pie really easy? It's easy to eat, but not always easy to make. Excellence is easy to appreciate and enjoy, but getting there takes a while. Join me in my Pursuit In Excellence. It won't be quick , but it will be worth it!
For me excellence revolves around motherhood and grandmahood. It is central to my many interests which I use to help my children develop their talents and have fun.
I share my journey here, The Homemaking Cottage and Arizona Mama. Be sure to see what else is cooking!

Family Home Evening: The Beatitudes
After quizzing the kiddos what they wanted to learn about for Family Home Evening, my husband chose to teach about the Beatitudes. I think the kiddo that piped up was thinking of President Hinkley’s Be’s, but that’s OK. There’s a great article from the 80′s that helped with the lesson. Someone mentioned the same story about Hugh B. Brown in Sunday School today. I guess I need to listen and let the Lord prune me to what He wants me to be, instead of being what I think is best. This article helped us explain what the different qualities in the Beatitudes mean in a way the children could understand.
We tried a fun new activity, Sign Language Charades. I don’t know where we got this old card game. Whoever is “it” picks a card and does the sign shown, everyone else guesses what the sign means. If no one guesses correctly, than “it” acts out the word charades style. I love games that are fun and you can actually learn something!
We also tried a new treat, Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Thumbprint Cookies. These tasted good and were fun to make since I got so much help with them.
