Easy as pie? Is pie really easy? It's easy to eat, but not always easy to make. Excellence is easy to appreciate and enjoy, but getting there takes a while. Join me in my Pursuit In Excellence. It won't be quick , but it will be worth it!
For me excellence revolves around motherhood and grandmahood. It is central to my many interests which I use to help my children develop their talents and have fun.
I share my journey here, The Homemaking Cottage and Arizona Mama. Be sure to see what else is cooking!

August was crazy busy and full of transitions! My nest is a little roomier as I sent a kiddo off to college. And I started training for a new position. I’m surprised at how much energy those two changes took!
1 – Test passed, only 5 left to earn my CPCU and a trip to Hawaii!
1 – Book read; my friend Tamara Passey’s The Christmas Tree Keeper.
2 – Cub Scout meetings, sadly they were my last.
3 – Kiddos attended an 80’s Murder Mystery party.
4 – Days in New York City with some of my favorite people.
10 – Sit ups, a weak effort.
15 – Projects completed, four of them were even fun.
16 – Photos on Instagram.
23 – Days of the 30 Butt Lift Challenge. A stupid cough kept me down!

With August behind me and a couple of weeks into my new work schedule, I am starting to settle into a routine. Not only is my house unpacked from my recent move, I only have a couple of areas to organize. I still need to get some pictures on the wall too. Maybe I’ll get that done this month. I know your curious to how my August stacked up through all this transition, so I won’t keep you waiting any longer.
0 – Books finished. This work thing is getting in the way of my reading goal! Good thing I enjoy my job and the people I meet.
1 – Article written for Today’s Mama.
1 – Pound gained. I did so good in July, I was hoping it was permanent. I’m still doing good overall for the year, so I won’t let this small set back slow me down.
2 – New story ideas. I need time to finish the ones I started so I can get to them!
3 – Potlucks at work. That’s another thing I enjoy about my job; I work with people who like to eat as much as I do!
4 – New tires on my car. It was necessary after one of them blew out and I realized how bad the rest were.
9 – Falls roller skating; three for each of us. I think I’m the only one still hurting. Darn tailbone!

Another month gone and September is speeding after it. How did your August go?
Labor day traditionally marks the end of summer, but here in Arizona most of our kids have been back to school for weeks and the heat will stretch out for weeks more. Regardless, August was a good month so let’s recap how it sliced.
2 – Recipes on our Real Food for Real People blog. I actually posted one of them this time.
3.0 – Pounds lost! I already met my goal for the year.
5 – Books read. I finished Where the Heart Is the night of the 31st, but I still made it!
8 – Article posted, including our Princess Academy Family Book Club.
9 – Days logging my food. I’m surprised I did so well on my weight loss goals; it must have been the reduction in my treat intake.
15 – Projects completed. It felt like a very productive month.
25 – Blog posts. Now that’s more like it!
1091 – Page views. Thanks to you, I have a new record!
1597 – Words written during WOW, ANWA‘s Week Of Writing. I exceeded my goal and I’m very happy with my progress as long as I don’t think about how a few people did twice as many in one day!
Share your August successes. It so much more fun when we cheer each other on!
