January 2016I feel so behind since I just shared my 2016 goals and February is more than half over. Before any more of the month slips away, I better get it in the books. Valentine’s Day is over, so now I need to look forward to the next holiday. St. Patrick’s Day?

3 – Social events: comedy, night hiking and a girls night out

2016 Goals

2016 Goal settingI know we are well past the time of New Year’s Resolutions, but I tend to be a goal-oriented girl anyway. My 2016 goals took me a couple of weeks to narrow down. I know 10 goals can be a lot as it is, but I try to keep them obtainable – that’s why I limit myself to 10. I could set realistic goals like eat chocolate every day, but I set goals that are realistic and also keep me motivated. Without any further ado, here’s my list.

  1. Complete my CPCU insurance designation. I have two test left and I’m on track to finish in May. Meeting this goal comes with its own special reward – the awards ceremony is in Hawaii!
  2. Attend a writing retreat. By meeting the goal above, I’ll be in Hawaii when I would normally be attending my favorite writer’s conference. So that makes attending a writing retreat a must, and I already have the time off from work.
  3. Add 6000 words to my latest book project. I anticipate most of the progress of this goal to be reached while I’m at the above mentioned writing retreat. Although, I did get a 126 word start on it in January.
  4. Blog two times per month.
  5. Read 20 books. That’s only one more than I read last year, so I think I can do it.
  6. Scrapbook 2015, I’m finally going digital. I used Snapfish to make a scrapbook for a gift that turned out great.
  7. Promote to a new position – or at least try real hard!
  8. Work out three times per week.
  9. Start working on my Bachelor’s degree.
  10. A Monthly Random Act of Kindness.

So there they are, my 2016 goals. I’m happy to say that as of a week into February, I’m still on track with all of them. As much as I like eating chocolate, it’s probably a good thing I didn’t add that as a goal, because I think I actually missed a couple of days already!

August 2015 Review

August was crazy busy and full of transitions! My nest is a little roomier as I sent a kiddo off to college. And I started training for a new position. I’m surprised at how much energy those two changes took!

1 – Book read; my friend Tamara Passey’s The Christmas Tree Keeper.

2 – Cub Scout meetings, sadly they were my last.

3 – Kiddos attended an 80’s Murder Mystery party.

4 – Days in New York City with some of my favorite people.

10 – Sit ups, a weak effort.

15 – Projects completed, four of them were even fun.

16 – Photos on Instagram.

23 – Days of the 30 Butt Lift Challenge. A stupid cough kept me down!

24 – Cupcakes, I made as a farewell for my Scouts.Butterscotch cupcakes

July 2015 Review

July KneadersJuly 2015 is in the books and I am so glad I wasn’t moving this year (unlike the previous 2 Julys). Not only did I not move, but I continue to get more settled and have added a little more character to my home – bicycle wheel and all!

1 – Blogger event at Kneaders. There was delicious food with all kinds of interesting things to look at and socializing. In addition to some of my favorite things, we had a kitchen tour.

1 – New software, yay Scrivener! I did get my book transferred over, but I’m still learning all the cool things it can do.

1.6 – Pounds lost in July, almost as much as I gained in June.

2 – Kinds of muffins for Sunday breakfasts; Blueberry and Chocolate.

3 – The number of treats I made this month; Salted Caramel Brownies, Brownies, Hot Chocolate Cookies. My kids and my co-workers loved them.

3 – I finished 3 books! It took me a couple of months to finish my commercial insurance book (AINS 23). And significantly longer to finish The Corner of Bitter and Sweet and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. (Add links)

11 – Projects completed, a little cleaning, a little decorating and quite a bit of reading.

As you can see by some of the last numbers, I did pretty good sticking to the 30 day leg challenge.This month I focusing on my bootie and trying to sneak more ab work too.
