Cutting Coupons

A few weeks ago I shared my Basics of Coupons. Today I’d like to share my simple tip for cutting coupons to store in my cool coupon organizer.

As I mentioned previously, I have four Sunday papers delivered each week. My kiddos love this because it reduces arguing over the comics.  One evening while we are watching TV, I gather the coupons an group the inserts together – Red Plum in one pile, Smart Source in another and so on.

Working with one group of inserts, I pull off the cover of each and stack them on top of each other. I make sure they are lined up and cut out all four coupons at the same time and tuck them behind the correct divider.  Sometimes I’m lucky enough to have a helper, stack the matching pages together for me and the process goes even faster.

Please share your tips for organizing coupons or cutting your food bill!

  2. Sounds like you are really organized about it. I used to be a lot better about coupons but once we moved further away from the good couponing store it has really slacked off.

You’ve definitely got the coupon cutting scheme down. I am an avid coupon use but I must ask, what area of the country do you live in? Living in central Oklahoma we only have one store that doubles coupons and only a few that except multiple coupons for same item in one transaction. Makes it not really worth it for me to buy multiple copies of the newspaper anymore.

      Hi Kathy,
I’m in Arizona and my local store doubles coupons up to $1 and allows customers to use three coupons toward the same item. When I want to use more than the three coupons, I break up my groceries into two separate transactions.

      Thanks for your questions!
